Welcome to my website. Please take some time to peruse these pages to get to know what I am about as a therapist, and how I can help you. Choosing a therapist who you can work with comfortably and build a trusting relationship with is so important. I am grateful and honored by the trust my clients put in me. Taking the step to seek therapy takes courage, which I appreciate and recognize as a strength. I genuinely love my work and strive to make a positive difference in my clients lives. I honor all committed relationships.
Who am I? Why am I here? What matters most to me, and what matters least? Maybe you have asked yourself these questions. Most people do at some time in their life, and I am no different. There came a time when I knew it was time to take action to bring about a different life experience, a different way to serve that would bring greater meaning to my life. Those searching questions and the answers I found within set me on a path of study intended to culminate in counseling “those who needed me most”, meaning those who would benefit the most from what I had to offer. While researching programs I was introduced to the basic principles of Marriage and Family Therapy. The premise reflected what I already believed to be true which made the program a natural fit for me. Marriage and Family Therapy is grounded in the belief that every member of a group (or system) you are part of, (family, work, school etc) has an impact on every other member. How you feel about yourself and how you see yourself in the world is directly tied to the family you grew up in and how you operated within that group as a child and into adulthood. The principles work the same for groups outside your family as well. These relationships have a direct effect on the quality of your life, which is why it can be very beneficial to your relationships, personal growth and healing to understand how you relate to those around you. Using these basic principles in therapy can provide a frame of reference to help me understand who you are as as individuals, where you started as a couple and how you got to the place you’re in now.
I also specialize in and enjoy working with women going through life transitions, as well as spiritual wellness. I look for and help identify individual strengths when working with my clients. No two clients are the same, so it’s important to personalize the course of therapy. I offer my clients compassion and authenticity in a safe and nonjudgemental environment that encourages a relaxed and trusting relationship.
I have more than 15 years of experience working with clients from all backgrounds. I received my Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Antioch University New England in 2007. My undergraduate degree is in Education. I am married and the mother of 4 children, and grandmother of 2.
